RECOGNITION CEREMONY & RECEPTION

Each student is allowed up to 4 guests at the Recognition Ceremony. Siblings who attend Normandale are expected to be in their regular classrooms during Recognition.

On the morning of May 30, please bring your student to school. The Normandale main school doors (door 10) will open at the usual time (8:25 am) for students not attending morning Kids Club. Students should proceed directly to their classrooms (with their change of clothes) where they will line up and get organized to process into the auditorium. 

Doors to the auditorium will open at 8:30am so you can get in and find a seat. Space is limited, each student is allowed up to 4 guests. We have 400 people to seat in a 15 minute window (8:30-8:45 SHARP.) Please help us by seating your group promptly, filling rows, and saving all the great conversations for the reception!

Order of events: 

  • 8:30am – Doors open to the Normandale Auditorium for ceremony guests

  • 8:45am – Main doors to auditorium close **

  • 8:50am – Recognition Ceremony begins!

  • 10:00am – Ceremony concludes. Students will leave the auditorium first and parents can meet them in the city gym downstairs for the reception. 

  • 10:20am, parents will bid their kids ‘adieu’ and teachers will have students line up to lead them back to classrooms to change clothes for the field trip. Parents, please exit Normandale through the exterior doors on the lower level. 

**Latecomers (after doors close at 8:45) will need to wait until after students process in and can enter the auditorium from the back doors in the hallway leading to classrooms (not the main auditorium entrance)

FIELD TRIP DETAILS

  • 10:30am – Buses depart for The Fun Lab

  • 2:30pm – Buses arrive back at Normandale. Students will have an end-of-day treat, watch a video, and gather their things before leaving when school is dismissed.

Each child will receive a Recognition t-shirt to be worn on the field trip. Students need to bring comfortable shoes and shorts/pants to change into after the reception for the field trip. Lunch will be provided. Students MUST come back from the field trip on the bus - they are not allowed to leave The Fun Lab with parents.
